E! Online reports that Dark Knight will be re-released right before the Oscar Season to remind the Academy what a great film it was before they cast their final votes. Warner Bros. plans to re-release the film around January 2009, but no exact date has been selected.

The film, starring the late actor Heath Ledger and actor Christian Bale, made an est. $512 million. But if the movie has already made so much money, why bring it back? According to reports [via The Hollywood Reporter], a source said "It's just a matter of bringing it back as a reminder for people."
